• Must be a legal resident of the State of Texas for a period of six months preceding the date of application.
• Must be at least 21 years of age (18 if active military).
• You must be qualified under federal and state law to purchase a handgun.
• You must not be a fugitive from justice.
• You must not have been convicted (or adjudication) of a felony in the 10 year preceding the date of application.
• You must not be currently charged with the commission of a Class A or B misdemeanor or equivalent offense.
• You must not have been convicted in the last 5 years of a Class A or Class B misdemeanor or equivalent offense.
• You must not be a chemically dependent person.
• You must not be incapable of exercising sound judgment with respect to firearms safety and proper storage.
• You must not be determined to be delinquent in making child support payments administered or collected by the attorney general.
• You must not be determined to be delinquent in the payment of state or federal taxes.
• You must not be currently restricted under a protective order or subject to a restraining order affecting the spousal relationship other than a restricting order affecting property interests.
• You must not have made any material misrepresentation, or failed to disclose any material fact in an application for a Texas issued Concealed Handgun License.
