In this course, the student will learn how to use the semiautomatic rifle or carbine for self-defense. All aspects of defensive rifle shooting from near to far will be addressed in this fun packed one day course. Gain the skills to deploy the rifle in an array of practical defensive shooting scenarios as well as the knowledge to select a defensive rifle and support equipment.
Duration: 1 day / 8hrs (2 hrs classroom /6 hours range)

- Selection of a defensive shoulder weapon and accessories
- Selection of defensive and training ammunition
- Basic Shooting Techniques-Defensive Rifle Fundamentals
- Ready and Carry Positions
- Administrative Loading and Unloading
- Reloading Techniques
- Shooting Positions, to include use of the sling and other methods of hasty support
- Identification and Engagement of Multiple Opponents
- Identification and Utilization of Cover
- Immediate Action / Multiple Shot Techniques
- Zeroing and Precision Shooting
- Shooting While Moving and Utilization of Tactical Movement
- Transitions to handgun
- Preventative Maintenance session-cleaning, maintenance, inspection, and safe storage
Prerequisites
This is an intermediate level class. The student needs to know and be able to demonstrate safe gun handling, weapon system familiarity, and foundational marksmanship skills Estimated round count: 400 rounds rifle / 100 rounds handgun
Equipment List:
- Rifle or carbine w/ sling (5.56/223, 7.62×39, 5.7×28, 5.45×39) Carbine w/ sling (9mm, 40SW, 45ACP).
- 5 magazines minimum / 1 Magazine Pouch
- Defensive handgun (9mm,40SW,45ACP) with 3 handgun magazines minimum
- Sturdy Belt and Belt mounted holster and magazine holders
- Footwear and clothing suitable for rapid movement and training in any weather
- Shooting Gloves / Knee / Elbow pads / Hat with brim
- Hydration system Earmuffs and earplugs
- Wraparound eyewear, polycarbonate lenses or non-shattering prescription glasses
